Maia Von Lekow to perform with her father

The Kenyan vocalist who has toured internationally, with her music featured on both TV & radio across the continent will perform with her father in the ‘One Night Only’ concert. The concert will take place at Tree House, Museum Hill on Friday, May 25, 2012 starting 8:00pm. The MC will be Jeff Kionage.
Maia, the daughter of the Kenyan Music Legend Sal Davis main influences while growing up were Natalie Cole, Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone. Her songs weave African jazz melodies, ballads and soulful blues together creating a hybrid signature sound.
Maia has graced the stages of the best of East African festivals including Sauti Za Busara, Rift Valley Festival, Sierra Jazz Safari, Tandawazi Festival, Samosa Festival, Kinada Music Festival, as well as the Blankets & Wine.
All in all she has shared the stage with various acclaimed artists both international and local like James Blunt (UK), Gerald Albright, Maya Azucena (USA), Thandiswe, Mafikizolo, Freshly Ground (South Africa), Kiddum, Sauti Sol, Eric Wanaina (Kenya).
Her recording include an 8 song EP ‘Maia von Lekow’ (2008). Drift, her debut album is currently in post-production and is due for release this year.
It will be one great show to see the King of East-African Funk get back to the stage after a 15-year hiatus.
