2012 BAA 10k: Geoffrey Mutai shines



The 2011 Boston Marathon winner, Geoffrey Mutai had an impressive dash to the finish line to win this year’s Boston Athletics Association (B.A.A) 10k in a time of 27:29s. The defending champion was 10 seconds shot of breaking his own course record.
Compatriot Phillip Langat came in second clocking 27:53s while Ethiopia’s Ali Abdosh settled for third place in a time of 28:21.
In the women’s race New Zealand’s Kimberly Smith won in 31:36, followed by Ethiopia’s Aheza Kiros (31:57) while Kenya’s Sharon Cherop finished third in 32:03. 2011 champion and record holder Caroline Kilel finished fifth in 32:40.
The 12th annual B.A.A Half Marathon will be held on Sunday, October 7 in Boston.

In football news: Victor Wanyama who has hinted out that he is open to a move to the English Premier League is being monitored closely by English side Newcastle United.
According to [Peterlee Star ] the Magpies are keeping an eye at the midfielder who is valued at about £7m and would serve as a replacement for Cheik Tiote.
