The application for the 2013 Google Rise Awards is now open
to organizations working with primary and secondary school students in Computer
Science (CS) and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics)
subjects.
The Google RISE (Roots in Science and Engineering) Awards are
designed to promote and support education initiatives in computer science and
STEM subjects, and once a year offer grants to organizations around the world
that engage students in these respective fields.
In the 2012 Google Rise Awards, Kenyan Akirachix Training
Programme was among
36 recipients of the coveted award.
“This year the RISE awards are open to applicants from 243 countries
(Here is the list of eligible countries ) on six continents,” said Niall Byrne, Google pre-university education
outreach specialist.
The awards which offer grants that range from US$5,000 to US$25,000
will have the winners announced in January 2013.
