Nairobi to Host International Junior Karate Championship
Kenya will host the International Junior Karate Championship in May 2013 at the Utalii College, Nairobi. According to the Kenya Karate Federation (KKF), the international tournament will be held in line with the World Authority Traditional Karate Do Association (WATKDA) rules.
Five countries have so far confirmed participation in the tourney including Kenya, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Tanzania, South Africa and Malawi.
On Saturday, KKF held a ranking and training session for over 90 players at the Utalii College. 30 were upgraded from white to black belt category after registering for the theoretical examination which was conducted by Sensei Peter Ochieng who is a third degree belt holder and Sensei Gregory Oluoch, a fifth degree belt holder.
Similar sessions will be held in Nakuru in April, Kakamega in June, Meru in September and Kisumu in November .
The tourney is open to ages 8-18.
