Nokia to Unveil Nokia Life in Kenya
Finnish telecom giant Nokia, today announced that its Nokia Life mobile service will launch in Kenya, through a deal with leading Kenyan telcos Safaricom and Airtel.
First introduced Nokia Life in India in 2009, the service is one of the most popular life improvement information services suites specifically designed for people in emerging markets. It delivers tailored-locally relevant content in local languages and works on a wide variety of Nokia mobile phones, without the need for a data plan.
Nokia Life is expected to offer numerous services under the Education, Health, Spirituality and Entertainment categories. Including services like Learn English, developed in partnership with the British Council; Life Skills, developed with Foundation for Social Change; and Parenting Advice, developed with Plan International.
It will be available next month, initially free of charge for an initial 30-day trial period. A subscriber has then the option of paying Kshs. 2 per day to receive messages on a daily basis in both Swahili and English.
