April 17, 2013 – Kenya Golf Trophy held in December has been renewed and will be an annual event having received many accolades. The event attracted leading brand names with Heineken being the Title Sponsor, official airline Etihad Airways, media sponsor Nation Media Group, Official Event Hotel Jacaranda Hotels and Security Sponsor Senaca having confirmed their sponsorships again, Tobs Kenya Golf Safaris, Travel & Events decided to make the Kenya Golf Trophy an annual event.
The 1st Kenya Golf Trophy was the largest amateur golf tournament ever held in Kenya. Having been successful it has this year attracted new sponsorships from amongst others Eagle Sponsors Mercedes and NAS Cuisine. Heineken has renewed its sponsorship for another year and remains the title sponsor. The brands presence assures players of the ultimate premium experience.
The tournament will be held at Muthaiga Golf Club, which celebrates its centenary this year, and offers a great ambiance. Its tree-lined fairways interspersed with numerous lakes and ponds, the fastest greens in East Africa in combination with lots of tradition, the 18 holes, Par 71, 7,169 yards long Muthaiga Golf Club has established itself as the home for the Kenya Golf Trophy.
The overall winner will get a crystal trophy as memento, two tickets to any Etihad Airways destination in the world, his/her name engraved on the floating large Chrystal Trophy which is perpetually be displayed amidst other prominent trophies at the lounge of Muthaiga Golf Club house. Additional prizes, including 2 Etihad tickets for the runner-up, totalling more than US $ 50.000 will be rewarded.
Tob Cohen, the event’s organizer, says: “Without the generous support from the numerous sponsors, it would not be possible to have an event this size in Kenya. I am overwhelmed by the willingness of top brands and companies to promote the sport of golf.”
The field is expected to have 200 players. The highlight will be the hole-in-one shoot-out, which will see the winner receive a brand new Mercedes. Every player will get an opportunity to shoot as many balls over the lake at hole 13, which proceeds of Ksh 500/- per ball will go to the Junior Golf Foundation whose mission is to promote junior golf
participation and competition for boys and girls.
