President Mwai Kibaki was awarded the prestigious Medal of
Industrial Merit by the Federation of Industries of the State Sao Paulo while
attending the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development.
Kibaki was honoured with the medal for his outstanding efforts
towards promoting entrepreneurship and industrial development in Kenya.
In bestowing the medal, the President of the Federation of
Industries of the State of Sao Paulo, Mr. Paulo Skaf congratulated Kibaki’s
turning of Kenya’s economy around despite numerous domestic and external
challenges.
Mr. Skaf said that the president had laid sound basis for
future industrial development through sound policies envisaged in Vision 2030.
In his appreciation, the President remarked that the award
was an appreciation of Kenyan’s effort towards industrial development.
Kibaki also took the chance to invite Brazilian investors to
explore investment opportunities in the country stating there were a wide range
of lucrative opportunities in the energy, infrastructure, and tourism sectors.
