Rudisha, Kiprop,Yego qualify for trials final



World 800m champion and record holder David Rudisha who recently set his season’s best of 1:41.74 in the US cruised to win the 800m heat in 1:44.0.
In the 1500m heat 2, Beijing gold medalist Asbel Kiprop won in 3:49.8 beating World Juniors Silver medalist, James Magut who came in 3:50.3. In the second heat, Diamond League winner Nixon Chepseba won in 3:44.1 and World silver medalist Silas Kiplagat came second in 3:44.4.
In the 5000m heat 1, Isaiah Kiplagat was followed by Olympics silver medalist Eliud Kipchoge while Thomas Longosiwa won heat 2 in 13:30.6.
Olympics bronze winner Alfred Kirwa Yego came third in 1:46.2 and will join the rest in Saturday’s final.
The trials that took place at the Nyayo National Stadium on Thursday saw rising stars show impressive performances. Isle of Man and Lille’s World Youth winner Timothy Kitum came second to Rudisha clocking 1:44.2. Job Kinyor clocked 1:45.6 to win the 2nd 800m heat.
Commonwealth champion Boaz Lalang did not qualify for the finals after dropping out with 200m to go.

In football news; Victor Wanyama who had been linked with a move to English top clubs will remain at Scottish side Celtic for another season.
