Kenya’s Vegpro Group a leading vegetable and flower exporter
seeks to develop a 1070-hectare farm in Ghana to meet its growing demand for
horticultural products from consumers in Europe.
The International Finance Corporation announced on June 15th
that it had invested $7 million to support the company’s expansion into the
West African nation.
The group will also offer 800 smallholder farmers in Ghana access
to international markets alongside improving infrastructure for agribusiness.
Vegpro Group, founded in 1979 by KC Patel and Bharat Patel operates
seven large horticulture farms in Naivasha, Kenya and deals in cut flowers and
fresh vegetables.
