Kenya Kwanza
On Tuesday, the National Cohesion and Integration Commission
(NCIC) unveiled its peace ambassadors appointed from 25 prominent Kenyans in a
move to promote peace in the country ahead of the upcoming general elections.
The campaign dubbed ‘Kenya Kwanza’ (Kenya first) sourced its
ambassadors from media personalities, musicians, business people, scholars, human
rights activist, athletes, retired military officers and religious heads.
The NCIC goodwill ambassadors include:

Musicians:
Eric Wanaina and Gospel rapper Juliani
·
Businessmen:
Industrialist Dr. Manu Chandaria and Entrepreneur Patrick Obath
·
Journalist:
Julie Gichuru.
·
Clergy:
retired Methodist Bishop Lawi Imathiu, Catholic Bishop Cornelius Korir, Canon
Peter Karanja of the National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK), Sheikh Abdi
Mohammed of SUPKEM, Father Gabriel Dolan, Prof. Alghafur Busaidy, and Rev Naomi
Waqo.

Lt. Gen (rtd) Daniel Opande and Lt. Gen (rtd) Lazarus Sumbeiywo

Human

NCIC chairperson Mzalendo Kibunja said that the campaign would
be geared to promote patriotism, national identity, national values, and
diversity in the country.
