Road to London: Team jets out to Britain

The first batch of the Olympic team departed on Tuesday night for Bristol City, United Kingdom.
They include athletes in the 800m, 400m, 400m hurdles, 4X400m relay, Javelin, weightlifters, and the two boxers (Andiego and Gicharu).
The athletes will do their training for a month at low altitude, an atmosphere the NOCK has resolved to be conducive for short races athletes
The team had pitched camp at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani and will be joined by their counterparts in the other divisions later this month.
At the same time, Brand Kenya will organize a road show for Team Kenya, which will also be used to publicize the Kenya House that will set up in London to showcase Kenya as a tourism destination.

In other sport news:  The second edition of Airtel Rising Stars talent search scheme will start from Thursday during the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSA) second term ball games.
Top footballers during the games will be selected to join others from 17 African countries to be hosted in a soccer camp in Nairobi.
Airtel has recently signed a 3-year partnership agreement with English side Arsenal Football club. The deal also covers it sponsorship for the 2012 Arsenal Tour to Nigeria.
Arsenal will offer UEFA trained coaches to assist with training in five countries; Kenya, Zambia, Nigeria, Ghana, Rwanda and Uganda and at an Arsenal Coaching Clinic which can accommodate up to 50 players.
