Athletics Kenya (AK) has unveiled the 2012/2013 Kenya
Commercial Bank (KCB) National Cross Country Championships that will take kick
off on November 3rd in Nyahururu town.
Speaking during the presentation of a 10.6 million
sponsorship from the Kenya Commercial Bank, AK’s Chairman Isaiah Kiplagat said
that athletes will have to go through doping tests and part of the sponsorship money
will go into purchasing an anti-doping kit.
“Foreign coaches, agents and journalists seeking to engage our
local athletes will have to seek clearance with the federation and the Ministry
of Sports,” Kiplagat added.
Kiplagat also emphasized that all athletes must honor at
least 3 of the 7 weekend meetings for them to be liable for selection for the
2013 World Cross Country Championship in Poland.
The jackpot winners will walk away with Sh1.2 million while
series winners will bag Sh20,000 each.
