Send Money For Free with Airtel Money

Airtel Kenya through its money transfer service Airtel Money has unveiled a new tariff charge that will see its subscribers send money at no cost to any network in Kenya.
According to a statement by Airtel Kenya MD Shivan Bhargava, the zero-transaction charge will apply to any amount sent to recipients on any network in the country.
The mobile service provider has over 6,000 Airtel Money agents in the country as well as corporate agents that include Uchumi Supermarkets, Posta, Tuskys, Co-operative Bank of Kenya, Pep Intermedius (Nakumatt), Muramati Sacco, Housing Finance, and Faulu Bank.
Airtel Money estimates that its regular users send up to Sh10,000 each month and are set to benefit by making savings of Sh400 on sending fees per month.

The new tariff comes days after Finance Minister Njeru Githae announced that a 10 percent exercise duty would be levied on money transfer services by mobile phones, money transfer agencies, and commercial banks.
This leaves subscribers of services such as Airtel Money, Mpesa, Tangaza , Orange Money and Yu Cash bracing for increased charges as providers recoup from levied tax.

The only other money transfer service provider that offers a similar product to Airtel Kenya’s in the country is Essar’s Yu Cash.
Airtel users can dial *222# to get more information on Airtel Money services and agent locations countrywide.
