KIVA, the world's largest online micro-lending platform has announced its plan to set up its regional office in Kenya's capital of Nairobi.
The Nairobi-based office will be the organization's first outside the United States, since it was founded in 2005 to lend capital to the small and medium enterprise (SMEs) across the world in order to alleviate poverty.
The continental office will be based at the Strathmore Business School, Stratmore University starting April 17th of this year.
Matt Flannery, the co-founder of the crowd-funding organization which has 900,000 lenders and having distributed over US$410 million worth of loans has cited Nairobi as an emerging hub for numerous potential social enterprise.
