The Tea Board of Kenya (TBK) is set to launch an online trading portal in a move aimed at increasing value addition in the expansive tea industry.
The 12 million-shilling e-portal, a product of a partnership with Trade Mark East Africa (TMEA) is expected to be unveiled early next month after over five months of piloting, with primary focus on the Mombasa Auction facility.
The paperless platform will reduce turnaround time in processing certificates, other trade documents and updating lists of growers for proper authentication.
TBK is also expected to start certifying exporters this may in a move geared at expanding its global market share.
The TBK portal was designed and developed by the IT company Rafica Ltd
