The Kenya Tourism Board has announced that the country has been selected to host the prestigious World Travel Awards (WTA) set for 16th October this year.
Dubbed the 'Oscars of Tourism', the awards seek to recognize excellence in travel, tourism and hospitality industry and thus encouraging them to uphold constant improvement in delivery of service and products.

Nairobi to Host International Junior Karate Championship
Kenya will host the International Junior Karate Championship in May 2013 at the Utalii College, Nairobi. According to the Kenya Karate Federation (KKF), the international tournament will be held in line with the World Authority Traditional Karate Do Association (WATKDA) rules.
Five countries have so far confirmed participation in the tourney including Kenya, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Tanzania, South Africa and Malawi.

Kenya to Host Ecotourism and Sustainable Tourism Conference in September
Kenya will become the first African country to host Ecotourism and Sustainable Tourism Conference (ESTC) in September 2013. The event which expects 500 tourism industry leaders from around the world will be co-hosted by the Kenya Tourism Board and Ecotourism Kenya.
The main objective will be to draft solutions to advance sustainability goals for the tourism industry. As well as offer The International Ecotourism Society (TIES) and its global network of members an opportunity to reflect on ecotourism’s history, evolution and future.
Founded in 1990, TIES is the world’s first organisation to dedicate all of its resources to tourism as a sustainable development mechanism. It offers guidelines and standards, training, technical assistance, research and publications on ecotourism.
