The 2011 Boston Marathon winner, Geoffrey Mutai had an
impressive dash to the finish line to win this year’s Boston Athletics Association (B.A.A) 10k in a time
of 27:29s. The defending champion was 10 seconds shot of breaking his own
course record.
Compatriot Phillip Langat came in second clocking 27:53s
while Ethiopia’s Ali Abdosh settled for third place in a time of 28:21.
In the women’s race New Zealand’s Kimberly Smith won in
31:36, followed by Ethiopia’s Aheza Kiros (31:57) while Kenya’s Sharon Cherop
finished third in 32:03. 2011 champion and record holder Caroline Kilel
finished fifth in 32:40.
