South Africa’s leading wine producer and distributor, Distell,
has ended a 14-year partnership with Kenya Wine Agencies Ltd (KWAL).
KWAL had been bottling and distributing the South African
Company’s wines and spirits that include popular brands Amarula, Viceroy among
others. Distell Wine Masters has announced its plan to directly manage its
products in the region, with a manufacturing plant and local distributions on
its main agenda.
Distell Wine Masters general manager James Wahome cited that
the rising competition in the industry could only be managed by direct
investment in the country and maintaining active involvement in local and
regional marketing and distribution activities.
The brewery market in Kenya is highly competitive with
Keroche Industries increased marketing and Re-entry of South Africa’s brewers
SABMiller.
