On Saturday, Everlyne Lagat won the women’s division of the 36th
Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth, Minnesota. She recorded a time of 2:33:14 in what
is United States 13th largest marathon.
In the men’s division, Ethiopia’s Girma Berhanu was the
winner finishing in 2:12:25 after defeating fellow compatriot Chala Lemi. Former
Grandma Winner Lamech Mokono of Kenya came in third at 2:13:58.
In Rugby, the England Counties XV beat the Elgon Warriors 34 -16 at the KRFU Grounds ending their East Africa Tour.
In Soccer, the friendly match between Gor Mahia and defending
champions Thika United ended in a barren draw. However, Gor mahia redeemed
themselves with 3-1 on post-match penalties giving them momentum ahead of the
second round of KPL that starts next week.
