The Kenya Tea Development Agency Ltd (KTDA) was among other
firms that were awarded in the 2012 Unilever Partners to Win Awards after
winning through the sustainability category. The tea management agency was
honored because of its sustainable agriculture practices at a ceremony held in
London.
The “Partner to Win Awards” celebrate and reward suppliers
who, over the past year, have made a significant contribution to Unilever in various
categories that include innovation, business integration, sustainability,
service excellence and capacity & capacity building.
KTDA currently serves more than 560,000 small-scale farmers in
the country. Joint efforts between the agency and Unilever have also rolled out
over 500 Farmers Field Schools (FFS) nationwide and they are targeting the
number to increase to 3,900 by 2015.
Unilever is a world-leading supplier of consumer goods with
operation in over 100 countries and sale in 180 countries. The company asserts
that its products are used more than 2 billion times a day globally.
