Kenyan Industrialist
Dr. Manu Chandaria was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award during the African
Business Awards held at Grosvenor House in London. The event, which is in its
fifth year honours excellence and achievement in African business.
Dr. Chandaria has established a world-class conglomerate and
has an incubation programme that seeks to support upcoming entrepreneurs in the
country.
Serena Hotels (Kenya) was awarded with the Best Hospitality,
Travel and Tourism in Africa Award. Nigerian Conglomerate Dangote Group won the
Investor of the Year Award while Nigerian entrepreneur Innocent Chukwuma’s Innoson
took the prestigious African Business of the Year.
Other Awards include:
- Award for Environmental Sustainability in Africa went to Kenya’s BTI Millman and South Africa’s Nedbank Group
- Country Achievement for Sustained Improvement in Investment Climate went to Rwanda
- Award for Innovation to South Africa’s Entrepreneur Finance Lab
- Most Outstanding Woman of the Year given to South Africa’s Rachel Zodwa Mabaso
- Award for Good Corporate Governance to Diageo Africa
- Award for Best Agricultural Development to OCP, Morocco
- Best Corporate Social Responsibility to BHP Billiton
- Business Leader of the Year Egbert Imomoh, Non-Executive Chairman Afren
- Special Commendation to Gabon’s Olam
- Creative Industry Award to Duro Olowu
