Mombasa set to host ICC Intercontinental Cup

Kenya Vs Bermuda at ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has postponed the 4th round fixtures of Intercontinental Cup and Pepsi ICC World Cricket League (WCL) Championship matches between Namibia and Kenya from June to September and October. The ICC has made the changes citing the security concern in the country at the time.

Mombasa Sports Club is expected to play host for all the matches starting with Intercontinental Cup slatted for September 27th to 30th. The 50-over-a-side Pepsi WCL Champions will then start from 2nd to 4th October.
Kenya last played Namibia last year in Windhoek in 8 T20 matches as part of their preparations for the March ICC T20 World Cup qualification tournament in Dubai.

The cup competition has prize money of $254,000 for the associate and affiliate teams participating in the ICC Intercontinental Cup 2011-13. $100,000 will go to the winners, $40,000 for the runners-up while third fourth placed team will receive $20,000 and $10,000. An outright win by any team in the round-robin stage will see it be rewarded with $3,000 per match.

The competitions are crucial for qualifying for the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
