In the women’s 3000m steeplechase, Daisy Jepkemei bagged
Kenya’s second gold in a leading time of 9:47.22. She was followed by Ethiopia’s
Tejinesh Gebisa who finished in 9:50.51 while Kenya’s Stella Rutto took third
place in 9:50.58.
In the women’s 5000m, Ethiopia’s Buze Diriba emerged victorious
after finishing in 15:32.94 ahead of compatriot Ruti Aga who came in 15:32.95.
Kenya’s Agnes Tirop came third for the bronze in 15:36.74.
In the men’s 400m semi-final, World youth silver medalist Alphas
Kishoyian made headlines with a solo re-run to qualify for the final race after
finishing in 46.46.
In Football: Harambee
Stars stunned Botswana’s Zebras with a 3 – 1 thrashing at a match played on Thursday
evening at the Nyayo National stadium. Stars made a remarkable second half
comeback after conceding an early goal from Zebra’s forward Tebongo Sembowa in
the 18th minute.
Stars’ first and second goal came from midfielder Clifford
Miheso after two great passes from Enock Agwanda. Mungai netted the third goal after
a cross from Miheso.
In Scrabble: Scrabble Kenya has placed a bid seeking to host
the 2013 World Scrabble Championship in Nairobi.
