Ambassador Dennis Awori has been appointed by Bank of Africa
as its new chairman. He will replace long serving Paul Derreumax who founded
the Bank of Africa Group in 2004.
Kwame Ahadzi, MD of Bank of Africa said that Awori’s vast
management experience would benefit the bank greatly and it would portray the
intended Kenyan Face.
Awori’s profile
He holds a BSc (hons) degree in Aeronautical Engineering
from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom.
He also holds a graduate of both Ashridge Management College
UK, in Business Leadership Program and Emory Business School Management
Development Atlanta University.
He currently serves as a Non-Executive Director of National
Carrier, Kenya Airways.
He has served as Managing Director of Lonrho Motors East
Africa, chairman of Toyota East Africa and a Corporate Advisor and Executive Consultant
at Cooper Motor Corporation (CMC) Holdings Ltd until 2004.
In 2004, he was appointed Kenya’s Ambassador to Japan and
Korea serving for six years until 2010.
In April of 2010, he was appointed to NEPAD.
He has also chaired both the Kenya Rugby Football Union (KRFU) and the
Uganda Rugby Football Union.
