Kenya’s Silas Kiplagat emerged victorious in the men’s mile at
London Diamond League meeting on Saturday. He finished in a time of 3:52.44
ahead of Britain’s Ross Murray who finished in 3:52.77.Compatriot Caleb
Mwangangi Ndiku finished third in 3:53.15.
In the women’s 800m, United States’ Molly Beckwith had a
slight win after clocking 2:00.68 ahead of Janet Jepkosgei’s 2.00.68 while
compatriot Winny Chebet finished third in 2:00.76.
In the men’s 800m, Poland’s Adam Kszczot won in 1:44.49
ahead of Kenya’s Job Koech Kinyor who clocked 1:44.60.Third place went to
Britain’s Andrew Osagie who finished in 1:45.21.

In the men’s 5000m, Ethiopia’s Muktar Edris was victorious
after finishing in 13:38.85. Eritrea’s Abrar Osman Adem followed him posting a
time of 13:38.95 while Kenya’s William Malel Sitonik finished third in
13:40.52.
In the men’s 800m, Timothy Kitum won heat 2 in 1:49.09 while
compatriot Edwin Kiplagat Melly won heat 3 in 1:47.08 in Saturday’s semifinals both
to qualify for Sunday’s finals.
In rugby: On Saturday,
Kenya’s fifteens team beat host Tunisia 21-34 to finish overall third in the
Confederation of African Rugby (CAR) tournament. Kenya was lucky to escape
relegation to CAR Division 1B for 2013 after it lost to rivals Uganda in its
opening match.
Special Olympics Kenya:
On Saturday, Special Olympics Kenya selected a team of 16 floor hockey
players to represent Kenya during the 2013 Special Olympics World Winter Games
in Pyeong Chang, South Korea.
