Peter Kirui and compatriot Gladys Cherono were crowned the
winners of the thirteenth edition of the ‘Media Marato´n de Bogota´’- an IAAF Gold
Label Road Race held in Bogota, Colombia on Sunday.
24-year old Kirui finished in a time of 1:02:26, just 6
seconds off the race record. Second place went to Ethiopia’s Feyisa Lelisa who
clocked 1:03:18 ahead of Wilson Chebet’s 1:04:19. Victor Kipchirchir, Isaac
Macharia, and Sammy Kitwara came fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
In the women’s side, Cherono posted a time of 1:13:27 ahead
of Ethiopia’s Abebech Afework who finished in 1:14:49. Helah Hiprop came third
in 1:15:56. Rose Chebet and Neriah Asiba were fifth and seventh respectively.
Kenya’s Sammy Ridrond
wins Health Marathon
Sammy Ridrond emerged victorious in the second edition of the
Phuket Health International Marathon held in Thailand’s Phuket town, on Sunday
morning. He posted a time of 2 hours and 25 minutes in the open 42- kilometre
event. He was followed by Thailand’s Suwat Paibaoon.
