Ezekiel Kemboi ended Kenya’s Gold medal wait after outpacing
fellow athletes in the men’s 3,000m steeplechase to win in a time of 8:18.56 on
Sunday night.
This is Kenya’s eighth straight water and barriers Olympics gold
medal in an event it has continued to dominate since 1968.
Silver went to Frenchman Mekhissi-Benabbad Mahiedine who
finished in a time of 8:19.08 ahead of Abel Kiprop Mutai who took bronze
recording 8:19.73.
Brimin Kipruto managed to finish 5th after tripping
earlier in the race to record 8:23.03.
