World champion and world record holder David Lekuta Rudisha,
Timothy Kitum and Anthony Chemut qualified for the 800m semifinals scheduled
for Tuesday in the ongoing London Olympics.
In heat 2, Rudisha won in 1:45.90 to make a resounding Olympic
debut with Bostwana’s Amos Nijel winning heat one in similar time of 1:45.90.
In heat 3, Timothy Kitum finished second in a time of
1:45.72 behind Egypt’s Kaki Abubaker who recorded a time of 1:45.51.
In heat 6, Anthony Chemut also finished second in 1:47.42
behind Ethiopia’s Aman Mohammed who posted a time of 1:47.34.
