‘Running for Water, Running for Life’
Nicholas Kipkemboi and Christine Chepkemoi emerged
victorious in the 9th edition of the UAP Ndakaini Half Marathon held
in Muranga County.
The event, which was graced by Olympic marathon silver
medalist Abel Kirui and World marathon record holder Patrick Makau, kicked off
early Saturday morning at the Ndakaini Secondary School.
Kipkemboi led from gun to tape taking the top honors in the
men’s half marathon while his female counterpart Christine Chepkemoi finished
24 seconds ahead of Gladys Chemweno to win the women’s division.
Both winners walked away with cash rewards of Sh150,000
each.

About UAP Ndakaini Half Marathon
The marathon, which is sponsored by UAP Insurance, has grown in leaps and bounds since being launched in 2004 under the auspices of the Ndakaini Dam Environmental Conversation Association(NDEKA).

The Half Marathon, whose main objective is to tap new talent
in Kenya, has continued to attract many established and upcoming athletes.
Its mission is to support sustainable supply of safe water
to the Ndakaini Dam (Supplies over 80 percent of water to Nairobi City) through
conservation of the catchment area.
