Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon 2012

The 10^th edition of the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon will take place on Sunday, October 28 2012 at the Nyayo National Stadium.

The marathon’s 10^th anniversary theme will be ‘Run for a Reason’.

The event has six categories; the Tricycles 42Km, Wheelchairs 42Km, Full Marathon (42Km), 21Km race (Half Marathon), 10Km race, and 4Km (Safari Junior Family-Fun) race.

The Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon is the biggest marathon in Kenya and adds up as the only athletics event in the country featuring in the International Association of Athletics Federation’s (IAAF) calendar alongside the likes of London, Boston, and the New York Marathon.

Established in 2003, the marathon is an annual charity fundraising running competition sponsored by the Standard Chartered Bank. The donated funds are used to eradicate avoidable blindness in small children.
