Kenya Power Charity Cup Launched

Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC), Football Kenya Federation, the Kenyan Premier League Ltd and the Red Cross Society on Thursday unveiled a new football competition dubbed the 'Kenya Power Charity Cup' - that will involve four most popular teams selected through public voting.


The tournament will be held on February 2nd 2013 at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani. The winners will pocket 850,000 shillings and the Charity Cup trophy while runners up will walk away with 510,000 shillings.170,000 shillings will go the 3rd and 4th place finishers.

All 16 Kenyan Premier League clubs and the three top clubs from each of the two zones of the Division One league, will participate in a fan-voting system through Short Message Service (SMS).

To vote, send your favorite team’s name to the number 2542 (each sms costs Sh.20). Voting lines close on 23rd January 2013.

Funds from the Charity Cup (sms and sale of tickets for the main event) will go towards needy causes, in particular community football.
