Wanyama Ranked 81st in Word's Top 100 Footballers

Victor Wanyama talks to the media after beating Barcelona  2-1
Harambee Stars and Celtic midfielder Victor Mugubi Wanyama is among the top 100 best soccer players in the world. This is according to the Top 100 list released by The Guardian on Thursday, that saw Argentine and arguably the best footballer in the world Lionel Messi lead the pack.

The CAF most promising African footballer nominee was ranked 81st with Paul Doyle describing him as follows:-

"Wanyama himself remains composed, consistently choosing the right options after marauding into positions to do damage. Just as rivals struggle to contain the Kenyan, Celtic will struggle to hold on to him after performances such as the one he delivered in October's group stage victory over Barcelona."

Wanyama who has been pivotal in Celtic's campaign in the UEFA Champions League and Scottish Premier League has been recently linked with a move to English Premier League side Manchester United.

7th of November was a memorable day in the 2012 calender for Celtic and Wanyama beating the best club in the world, Barcelona FC 2-1 to edge closer to the last 16 of the Champions League. Wanyama's superb header and a strike from fellow teammate Tony Watt overshadowed Messi's injury-time goal.

Portuguese winger Christiano Ronaldo came in second while Barcelona's Xavi, Andre's Iniesta, PSG's Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Athletic Madrid's Radamel Falcao, Manchester United's Robin Van Persie, Juventus's Andrea Pirlo, Manchester City's Yaya Toure and Napoli's Edinson Cavani made the top 10.
