Arsenal Keen On A Wanyama Move
English Premier League side Arsenal FC are torn between French International and Lyon midfielder Yoann Gourcuff and Kenya's Victor Wanyama.
The Kenyan midfield dynamo has been linked with a potential winter move to English giants with Manchester United, champions Manchester City all reportedly interested, but it is French man Arsene Wenger who is the latest to join the bandwagon and could pull the rag under the feet of his rivals if he tables an offer.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has been keen on signing the 21 year-old youngster sending scouts to watch him on several occasions and it is understood that he has received glowing reports on the player.
According to Daily Mail, the North London outfit have joined fellow league competitors Fulham in the race to land Celtic’s enforcer in midfield.
Wanyama is valued at around 20 million sterling pound by his Celtic manager Neil Lennon, however, a figure around 12 million could be enough to prize him away from Celtic Park.
The former Germinal Beerschot player, has been a massive hit ever since he joined the Hoops firing them to a league trophy last season before making an indelible mark in the prestigious UEFA Champions league in the on-going campaign with some stellar performances.
Wanyama earned a lot of praise when he helped Celtic beat Spanish giants Barcelona in the second leg of the champions league Group stage match in Glasgow scoring through a powerful header in November 7 last year.
Wenger’s latest move could be seen as an attempt to plug the gaping hole left by Cameroonian Alex Song whose move to Barcelona has left Gunners midfield badly exposed.
Should any of the English sides make a successful bid, Wanyama will become the first Kenyan to ply his trade in the prestigious and popular English league.
