JUMIA Kenya Online Marketplace to empower Small Business Enterprises

JUMIA Kenya recently launched Online Marketplace will empower small, medium
and large business enterprises by allowing them to sell their products directly
to the company’s large customer base with JUMIA handling product warehousing,
marketing, customer care, delivery, after sale services and remitting the cash
resulting from the sale to the entrepreneur free of charge at the end of the
week.
The platform which
operates on a familiar criteria where sellers decide what to sell, at what
price, upload a picture of the item and create a description of the product before
the product goes live on the company’s website www.jumia.co.ke is meant to
transform your local shop into a national shop and ensure wider reach and
audience.
Any entrepreneur is allowed to sell on Online Marketplace, the product
has to be brand-new, unused, unopened in its original packaging, with all
original packaging materials included. Original protective wrapping, if any, is
intact. Original manufacturer's warranty, if any, still applies, with warranty
details included in the listing comments.
The Seller Centre on the portal gives entrepreneurs and retailers full access to all their operational transactions with JUMIA, as well as the opportunity to view their products and update stock and prices. Sellers are able to monitor their sales, as well as pending, shipped and cancelled orders on their own.
The free access
keeps the retailer in the loop during customer interactions ensuring that
sales, follow-up and any returns take place in the secure space of the
retailer’s online marketplace.
JUMIA Kenya MD Parinaz Firozi reiterated the place of online marketplace in Kenya at a panel discussion in the recently concluded Tech4Africa conference on the topic beyond the code: From innovation to execution.
In her
emphasis online marketplace will “make it easy and exciting for local
