The third edition of the annual CIO 100 Awards East Africa
was unveiled on Thursday morning at a press briefing held at the Nairobi Serena
Hotel. This year's competition will take place from 28th to 30th
of November at the Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi.
The CIO 100 Awards recognizes and rewards excellence in innovative
application of technology in businesses. The awards culminate into an award gala that will honor the top 100 organizations in East and Central Africa.
This year’s theme is ‘value creation through innovation’ and
more than 500 participants from Kenya, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Uganda, and Tanzania are
expected.
At last year’s awards, Kenya Educational Network (KENET)
scooped the overall winner for their project that aims to provide internet
connectivity to learning institutions. The first runner up and second runners
up went to Eat Out Kenya and Nakumatt Holdings respectively.
