Kenyans Shine at All African Business Leaders Awards




Kenya’s Captains of Industry were among African leaders who were honored at the 2012 All African Business Leaders Awards (AABLA) held in Midrand, South Africa on Thursday 25 October.

Equity Bank Chief Executive Officer James Mwangi who was recently awarded Africa’s Innovation Leader of the Year Prize by the AfricanInvestor (Ai) scooped the Business Leader of AABLA 2012.



Comcraft CEO Dr. Manu Chandaria was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award while Scangroup CEO Mr. Bharat Thakrar took home the Forbes Africa Advertising Leader of the Year.

Scangroup’s subsidiary, Ogilvy & Mather Africa scooped the Forbes Africa agency Network of the Year.  

Other top African executives who were honored include the CEO of PSG Group, Jannie Mouton - Entrepreneur of the Year Award, CEO of Main One Cable Ltd, Funke Opeke – Business Woman of the Year and MD of Rwanda Development Bank, Jack Kayonga – Young Business Leader of the Year.  

The prestigious award recognizes African business leaders who have made qualitative and quantitative difference to the companies, industries and communities they serve. They are organized by ABN Productions in collaboration with finance news brands, CNBC Africa and Forbes Africa.
