The Housing Finance Corporation in partnership with the Vision 2030 Delivery Board (VDB) on Friday launched the Army of 1 Million Artisans programme that is geared towards training 1 million building and construction artisans in the country by 2016.
Speaking during the ceremony, vision 2030 delivery Director General Mugo Kibati noted that they will work with the mortgage lender in capacity building, benchmarking, technology and knowledge transfer through technical and vocational education and training programmes inline vision 2030.
Housing Finance Managing Director Frank Ireri said his company intends to develop a data bank of certified artisans that firms can refer to when sourcing for various services. Adding that the programme will support the implementation of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training bill, 2012.
