PepsiCo Ready to Rumble in Kenya

Leading global food and beverage giant PespiCo is preparing a second attempt to penetrate the lucrative Kenyan soft drinks market following the official opening of a Sh2.6 billion plant in Ruaraka, Nairobi.

Speaking during the commissioning of the plant on Monday, Seven-Up Bottling Company (SBC) Kenya chairman Faysal El-Khalil expressed satisfaction at the completion of the plant and confidence on the impending competition.

PepsiCo has already made numerous steps such as providing consumers with affordable products with value proposition. Its 350ml products retail at Sh. 23 compared to main competitor Coca Cola which go for 300ml at the same price.

SBC Kenya has hired a workforce of 200 and is expected to increase to 300 within the next 12 months.

The Ultra-modern plant off Thika Highway has a capacity to manufacture about 600 bottles per minute and will produce 7 PepsiCo's brands including Pepsi Diet, Pepsi Light, Pepsi Cola, Seven Up, Soda Water, Mirinda and Everess.
