Orange has launched the second edition of its competition that
aims to support ICT innovators. The competition dubbed ‘Orange African Social Venture
Prize’ is inviting entrepreneurs and SMEs to come up with IT solutions that satisfy
daily needs. The 3 top winners will receive cash rewards of (25K, 15K, 10k Euros)
and 6 months mentoring by management experts.
Participants are required to be more than 21 years old, can either
be students, entrepreneurs, or startup companies in operation since June 2009. The
applications are open from 22nd May and close on September 21st

Out of the 634 projects submitted last year, 55 were from Kenyan
innovators. Last year’s event winners include the Uganda’s community based
e-commerce platform, Nigeria’s Horticultural Tele-Irrigation and Kachille, an
Ivory Coast e-commerce platform for African handicrafts.
