It was all Kenyan at the finish line with our long distance
runners dominating the 2012 Standard Chartered KL Marathon that was held on Sunday in
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The 42.2km men marathon was won by the defending champion
Kennedy Kiproo Lilan who clocked 2’14:45. The recently crowned 2012 BII-Maybank Marathon winner was followed by fellow countryman
Charles Mwai Kanyao and Japhet Kipchirchir Kipkorir who recorded times of 2’15:22
and 2’16:37 respectively.
Elizabeth Cheruyiot Chemwemo won the 42.2km women’s marathon
recording her personal best of 2’40:24. Ethiopia’s Tigist Memuye Gebeyahu came
second ahead of Kenya’s Rose Kerubo Nyangacha who clocked 2’41:00.
