In the Women’s 5000m, Kenya settled for a bronze medal after
Agnes Jebet Tirop finished third in 15:36.74 behind Ethiopia’s Buze Dirba and
Ruita Aga who clocked 15:32.94 and 15:32.95 respectively.
In the Men’s 400m Heat 4, Kenya’s William Mbevi Mutunga
finished third in 52.44 behind Japan’s Takahiro Matsumoto and Javarn Gallmore
of Jamaica who finished in 51:26 and 51.40 respectively.
In other Athletics
news: On Wednesday, a team of 25 athletes and 8 officials left the country
for World Deaf Championship in Toronto, Canada slated for 14th – 21st
July.
In football news:
Kenyan defender Brian Mandela has joined Cape Town’s Santos FC after completing
trials. Mandela has signed a three-year deal with the South African side, which
plays in the second division after KPL’s Tusker FC reached an agreement with
Santos.
He will officially join the club this coming week;

In Rugby: Kenya’s
fifteens lost to Uganda 20 -19 in its opening match in the ongoing CAR,
Tunisia.
