All African Games champion David Dunford finished third in
Heat 5 of the Men’s 100m Freestyle but failed to make it to the semi finals at
the ExCel Aquatic Centre, Tuesday morning.
His time of 49.60 saw him ranked 26th therefore missing tonight’s semi finals. Romania’s Nobert Trandafir came first in 49.02 ahead of Martin Verner of Czech Republic who came in a time of 49.49.
Dunford started the first lap well, winning it in 23.31 before surrendering the lead in the last lap, where he posted a slow time of 26:29.
It’s not all over yet for the younger brother to Jason Dunford, as he is set to return for the 50m freestyle heats on Thursday.
