Shadrack Kosgei emerged victorious in the 4th Annual Wharf
to Wharf race clocking a leading time of 27:21 on a Sunday morning in Santa
Cruz, California. The 27-year-old now becomes the first three-time champion in
the Wharf to Wharf's 40-year history.
“I felt good all the way. I still have energy to go,” said
Kosgei, who recorded winning times of 27:51 in 2004 and 27:01 in 2010.
“But out of the three times that I've won, this was the easiest [on my body]. I felt good,” he added.
Kosgei was closely followed by United States’ Ben Bruce who finished in a time of 27:50 ahead of his compatriot Joseph Chirlee clocking a time of 27:52. Fourth place went to Uganda’s Tony Okello who finished in 27:59.
