Paul Maina Theuri and Hellen Mugo emerged the winners of the 28th edition of the Safaricom Mombasa International Marathon held on Sunday at the coastal town.
Maina crossed the finish line in 2:12:26 ahead of fierce
competition from Peter Biwott (2:21:54) and Daniel Kilimo (2:21:55) who
finished second and third respectively.
In the women’s division, Mugo won in a time of 2:37:16 ahead
of Beatrice Chepkorir and Irene Cherop who
finished in 2:37.25 and 2:38.02 respectively.
The two winners each bagged a Sh200,000 cash award.
Bernard Matheka and Jane Mwikali won the 10km Men and Women
respectively to pocket sh10,000 each.
