Kenyan International midfielder Victor Wanyama became the third Kenyan footballer to ever compete in the UEFA Champions League when he debuted for Celtic against Finnish side HJK Helsinki in the first-leg third round qualifier at Celtic Park on Wednesday night.
Wanyama played the entire 90-minutes, ending in a 2-1 win with Celtic’s Charles Mulgrew scoring the winning goal in the 61st minute. Helsinki’s Rasmus Schuller opened the score sheet within 90 seconds, leaving Celtic’s Gary Hooper to respond in the 55th minute with a superb equalizer.
