Jason Dunford clinched another gold and silver medal for Kenya
on the 3rd day of the 11th Africa Senior Swimming Championships
held at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani .
The Olympics finalists posted a time of 24.5 seconds in the
50m butterfly and 51.20 seconds in the 100m butterfly to win gold and silver in
front of a cheering home crowd.
In the 50m butterfly, Algeria’s Oussama Sahnoune finished behind
Dunford to take silver in a time 25.49 seconds.
South Africa’s Myles Brown emerged victorious in the 100m
freestyle in 51.06 with Osussama finishing third in 51.60.
Up to now, Kenya has managed five medals (2 gold, 2 silver
and 1 bronze) thanks to a brilliant Dunford.
He will be in action on Sunday for the 50m freestyle.
The other Kenyan contestants did not fare well with Sonia
Chege finishing 6th (5:24.62) in the women’s 400m freestyle.
Bayusuf Hamdan also came in sixth (2:12.48) in the men’s
200m backstroke while Ramadhan Vyombo finished fourth (25.81) in the men’s 50m
butterfly.
