The Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) has unveiled the 31st
edition of the Impala Rugby Floodlit tournament that will run for a duration of
three weekends on October 6th, 13th , and 20th
at the Impala Club grounds along Ngong Road.
Expected at the annual rugby tourney are 8 local clubs, 8 university
teams and 8 secondary schools, which will compete for the top prize of Sh200,000.
Mobile Operator Airtel, who are the title sponsors of this year’s event
presented a 4 million-shilling boost that will go into the logistics including installation of new floodlights and security within the venue.
Speaking during the launch, Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) Chairman
Mwangi Muthee lauded corporate organizations, which have taken the opportunity
to promote rugby events in the country through sponsorships.
The draw for the most successful local rugby tournament will be
released on Friday.
