The library of the Kenya Methodist University bagged the prestigious
Library of the Year title at the
third edition of Maktaba Award held on Friday, 21st September at the
Louis Leakey Auditorium of the National Museums of Kenya.
The award, which are organized
by the Goethe-Institut Kenya, the Jomo Kenyatta Foundation, and the Kenya
Library Association, seeks to recognize excellence in the provision of library
and information services in the country.
KEMU was chosen for having fully integrated modern information
and communication technology in the provision of information services to its
clientele as well as recording the highest usage of e-journals among the
academic libraries in Kenya for the past 2 years. It received a cash reward of
Sh250,000, books, a trophy and a certificate.
Established in 2010, the
inaugural award was won by the library of the United States International
University.
This year’s awards received 75 submissions.
