Kenya’s Leonard Komon and
Sylvia Kibet emerged the winners of the 28th edition of Dam tot
Damloop held in Netherlands’ Capital of Amsterdam to Zaandam, Sunday.
24-year-old Komon crossed
the finish line in 44.48 to defend the title, 20 seconds short of Haile
Gebrselassie's world best time. He was followed by compatriot Daniel Chebii
(45.02) and Ethiopia’s Abera Kuma (45.28) who took second and third place
respectively.
In the women division,
compatriot Sylvia Kibet made her debut in the Dam tot Damloop memorable winning
in 51.42. At the homestretch, she outpaced her fierce rival Bezunesh Bekele
from Ethiopia to finish 3 seconds ahead of her.
Bekele came in second in
51.45 while Kenya’s Esther Chemtai settled for third place clocking 52.45.
