Rudisha, Chemos and Kiplangat qualify for 2013 World Championships

David Rudisha, Milcah Chemos and Isaiah Kiplangat’s overall wins in the 2012 Samsung Diamond League meetings, has earned the trio automatic qualifications to the 2013 World Championships, which is set for Russia’s capital Moscow.
The automatic qualification is in line with the new rule by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).
A win by Pamela Jelimo (800m) and Paul Kipsiele (3000m steeplechase) in the final leg of the 2012 Samsung Diamond League set for Brussels, would also land the two tickets to the World Championships.
World 800m champion and record holder David Rudisha was on Thursday night left stunned by a shock defeat to Ethiopia’s Mohammed Aman who finished 6th at the just concluded Olympics, however, Rudisha remained at the top of Diamond League standings.
Commonwealth and African 3000m women steeple champion Milcah Chemos crossed the finish line 9th after tripping over a barrier but was crowned the overall winner of Diamond League Jackpot with Ethiopia’s Sofia Assefa being disqualified for lane violation.
In the 5000m, Former junior titleholder Isaiah Kiplangat led a Kenyan 1-2 to cement his place at the top of the Diamond League Standings.
